NORTH ELTHAM WANDERERS CRICKET CLUB

An Ode to Keith Howarth

Sitting home one Sunday night the phone began to ring, I picked it up, said hello, I could hear the angels sing.

"G'Day Darkie, It's Keith here calling from heaven, I'm checking on the Club, Glad I caught you at home hey, thought you'll be at the pub!,"

"It's hard to rest Phil you know, cause now I can't be there, I want to know are the Wanderers strong, Does any Club Member care,"

"Cause I put a lot of Blood, Sweat and Tears in, I hope it don't go to waste. I still hang on the dream of A Grade victories someday that we will taste."

"Don't worry Keith, things are swell, the club is keen and strong, So full of heart and laughter as we go along,"

"Don't worry Keith, the Clubroom floor is clean, the fridge is nice and full, Potato chips coming out our ears, there's money in the till,"

"Picthes are uncovered, team selected to begin another season, We're giving our best on and off the field, now we have a bloody good reason,"

"You've been the backbone for so long, Your presence is always there, It's our turn now we're doing the job, becuase We god dam care,"

"We will carry on the North Eltham Wanderers name until our days do end, Cause we love the club, as much as you, Rest now our dear friend."

"Say Keith, change the subject, How is it there with God?"

"Beaut Phill, couldn't be better, got him doing what he's told."
